The Cotswold area is famous for being one of the largest suppliers of the English wool trade but it has remained unspoilt and idyllic over the years since the cloth trade moved to the north of England. The Cotswolds is a beautiful area with picturesque villages, stunning Cotswold market towns and several historical sites in the region. It has chocolate box villages with pretty, thatched cottages, hidden away secret gardens and charming village greens. Cotswold market towns are usually busy with large market squares that held sheep markets in the past as a weekly occurrence. Now there are weekly markets and occasional farmer’s markets. The Cotswolds is like no other place, a haven of English heritage countryside, some of the most beautiful and historical places in England and the most unspoilt area that has avoided development.
